The Serious Bit
As our Managing Director, Paul takes care of the day-to-day running of Stopgap and is tasked with taking the business into the next phase of growth. He brings with him more than 20 years' experience in trade, product and commercial marketing roles across a number of blue chip businesses including Bass Taverns, British Bakeries, RHM Bakeries and Premier Foods. He has also run a factory making Sharwoods Poppadums and Curry Powder as well as Paxo stuffing!
Before joining Stopgap, Paul served as Business Controller at Premier Foods with his most recent role as Director of the FMCG division at Achilles Information. If all of this isn't impressive enough, Paul also has a degree in Botany so our office plants are always looking blooming marvellous.
The Fun Bit
When I was little I wanted to be...
....a Doctor because I liked the idea of wandering the wards with a stethoscope around my neck but my plans were scuppered when I managed to score a mighty 16% for Physics in my Lower Sixth year, and the Headmaster suggested I might struggle to move it to a "B" at "A Level" in the year that followed. (In fact I moved it to 36% by the September, but failed the "A Level", so he was right!)
My first ever job was...
...delivering papers in Lancaster - I was up every morning at 6am from the age of 12, rain, sleet, hail, snow or sun (but this was Lancaster, so precious little of the latter) with my Cocker Spaniel, bringing the news to the residents south of the City.
The most daring thing I've ever done is...
...a couple of Bungee jumps in NZ and Australia. (I have an enormous fear of heights!)
In my spare time you can find me...
...Spare time? I'm too busy with my family, hiking, skiing, gardening, cooking, brewing cider, zipping around in my MG or fixing stuff in our recently acquired 17th Century cottage.

...Amazon because it's ubiquitous and versatile - great qualities for success as a business leader, husband and Dad.
